Newcastle United are said to beat Manchester City to Kieran Tierney's signature.

Newcastle United are said to be in pole position to grab Kieran Tierney and beat Manchester City to his signature.

Tierney joined Arsenal in a £25 million deal from Celtic in 2019. He established himself as their first-choice left-back until the arrival of Oleksandr Zinchenko last summer.

The Scotsman is now staring at an Arsenal exit after falling down the pecking order. Zinchenko has pipped him to a spot in the starting XI, with Takehiro Tomiyasu also being preferred over the Scotsman.

Tierney has made 121 appearances for the north London side, scoring five times and picking up 14 assists. Despite making 24 appearances for Arsenal this season, he is said to be looking for new opportunities. Premier League rivals Newcastle United are said to be keen on roping him in, according to Football Insider.

Newcastle manager Eddie Howe considers the £30 million-rated star a priority in the summer window. The Tyneside club are said to be in a good position to seal a move for him, beating competition from the likes of Manchester City and Aston Villa.

Manchester City eye Bayern Munich star to solve left-back issues: Reports

Manchester City have expressed interest in Bayern Munich defender Alphonso Davies, according to reports from Germany. They, along with Real Madrid, are said to be keen on making a move for Davies in the summer transfer window.

With Joao Cancelo falling out of favor with Pep Guardiola, he joined Bayern from Manchester City in January on a six-month loan deal. The Bundesliga giants reportedly have the option to make his transfer permanent in the summer for €70 million.

In Cancelo's absence, Guardiola has resorted to using center-backs Manuel Akanji and Nathan Ake as a full-back. If Newcastle beat the Cityzens to Tierney's signature, they will turn their attention to Bayern's Canadian star Davies.

Sky Sports Deutschland's Florian Plettenberg, who reported on Manchester City's interest in Davies, also stated that Bayern Munich consider him "unsaleable". He added that they are keen on extending the 22-year-old's contract beyond 2025.

Davies' agent, Nick Huoseh, confirmed the same, saying (via TSN Soccer):

"A number of clubs are interested [in Davies] but no direct talks [on a transfer]. Davies has two years left on his contract. Bayern are hoping to extend the contract. Nothing confirmed yet."
