Wilshere's World Cup hopes boosted by Southgate

Jack Wilshere could be set for an England recall from Gareth Southgate, having re-established himself in the Arsenal set-up. The 26-year-old midfielder has not featured for the national team since the humiliating 2-1 defeat to Iceland in the last 16 of Euro 2016. Southgate previously stated Wilshere, who spent last season on loan at Bournemouth and is yet to sign a new contract at Emirates Stadium to extend his stay beyond this campaign, would not be considered for a return until he was playing regularly at club level.
