Arsenal failed with a late deadline day move for Roma centre-back Kostas Manolas, according to reports. The Gunners were hunting for a new centre-back to bolster their defensive options for the rest of the season. They failed with a late £12m bid for West Brom's Jonny Evans and now it has been revealed they were rebuffed in their efforts to get Manolas too. According to Sky Italia, Arsenal made contact with Roma over a move for the Greece international but they were turned away. The Italian club were unwilling to sanction the sale of the centre-back with so little time left for them to sign a replacement.
