On 6th March 2012, Arsenal and AC Milan contested the 2nd leg of a Champions League tie at the Emirates Stadium for a place in the quarter-final. Six years – almost to the day – later and the two meet again but this time the quarter-final spot on offer is considerably less prestigious. However, it could be argued that given Arsenal’s slide and in particular, the pressure on Arsene Wenger, coupled with Milan’s desperation to make a statement on the European stage once again, the stakes are even higher this time round.
