Wenger: Wilshere needs long-term fitness

Arsene Wenger has backed Jack Wilshere to fulfil his potential at Arsenal stressing a sustained period of fitness will help the midfielder rediscover the form he showed when he broke into the team as a 16-year-old. Wilshere hasn't featured for the Gunners since the November clash with Manchester United when a horrible tackle by Paddy McNair damaged his ankle. Having recovered from surgery the 23-year-old has found himself down the pecking order at the Emirates with the likes of Aaron Ramsey, Francis Coquelin, Santi Cazorla and Mesut Ozil keeping him on the bench.
