Arsenal set to financially benefit should Barcelona win Champions League

Arsenal are set to benefit financially this summer should Barcelona win the Champions League with the Catalan club expected to pay the remaining £2.8m transfer fee following Thomas Vermaelen's move, the Daily Express reports. Vermaelen joined the Champions League finalists in August in a deal worth £15m (via BBC Sport), but as ever with Barcelona, the club agreed a deal which involved performance related bonuses. The Belgian is yet to make his debut for the club after a disastrous season in terms of his various injury problems; but he was named on the bench for the Champions League semi-final win over Bayern Munich.
