Theo Walcott hopes Man United cameo will earn him a start in the FA Cup final

Winger Walcott missed last year’s final with Hull with a knee ligament injury that sidelined him for nine months but is determined to be part of the Wembley action this time against Aston Villa. Since returning in November, Walcott has struggled to re-establish himself in the Gunners starting line-up. His 18-minute appearance at Old Trafford was the fifth successive game he has come on from the bench, none of which have lasted longer than 21 minutes. But he hopes his part in the Gunners’ equaliser – his shot deflected off Tyler Blackett and looped over Victor Valdes – will do his chances of starting the final two Premier League games and the cup final no harm.
