Arsenal defender set to return to homeland

Spanish side Athletic Bilbao are interested in making a move for Arsenal full-back Nacho Monreal in the summer, according to AS. Monreal's deal at the Emirates Stadium comes to an end in 2016, and while the left back has stated his desire to extend his stay at the Premier League club, the Gunners are apparently not keen on doing so. Arsenal boss Arséne Wenger is willing to listen to offers for the former Osasuna and Málaga player, and it appears that a move back to his homeland is likely. Athletic are prepared to step in to secure Monreal this summer, and have sounded out the defender with a contract offer of three to four seasons.
