Mikel Arteta questions Atletico Madrid over Thomas Partey buy-out clause

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has questioned the anger of Atletico Madrid. The Gunners decided to match the £52.5m release clause written into his contract with Diego Simone’s side on a frantic final day of the summer transfer window, giving his former side no time to react. They allege that Arsenal failed to give them adequate notice on their intentions, despite there being no need of negotiations between the two clubs due to their agreed clause. It is thought that the move got over the line with less than an hour of the window remaining.
