Arsenal set to pip Manchester City to French wonderkid Ismael Bennacer

Arsenal have reportedly won the race to sign French wonderkid Ismael Bennacer. The Gunners have fended off competition from Manchester City to land the 17-year-old, who currently plays for French third division side AC Arles-Avignon. City were favourites to capture Bennacer with reports in his homeland claiming he had agreed personal terms over a move to the Etihad. But now, according to L'Equipe, Arsene Wenger has stolen a march on City and the Gunners are now in prime position to bring the teenager to the Premier League. A French youth international, Bennacer made seven senior appearances for AC Arles-Avignon last season but could not prevent them from being relegated to the third-tier.
