Arsenal tried to sign former Chelsea star twice before landing him

Arsenal made attempts in both 2004 and 2013 to land Petr Cech, with the former Chelsea man in Arsene Wenger sights for some time, according to The Daily Mail. The experienced Czech Republic international penned a deal earlier this summer to move from Stamford Bridge to the Emirates Stadium, solving the Gunners’ goalkeeper crisis as a result. Cech had fallen down Jose Mourinho’s preferences after the emergence of Thibaut Courtois, who took the veteran’s number one jersey in West London last term after loan stints at Atletico Madrid.
