It has been reported that Real Betis and Levante are in contact with Real Madrid for Lucas Silva. Cadena SER claims that Real Madrid are keen on loaning out the Brazilian to a Spanish side so that he can continue to accumulate years of residency in the country in order to one day take dual citizenship. Real have four non-EU players on the books for the 2015-16 campaign – Silva, James Rodríguez, Danilo and Casemiro – one more than the regulations permit. There has also been interest in taking the player on loan from Portuguese clubs, notably Sporting Lisbon.
