Southampton beat several Premier League clubs to class defender
Southampton have confirmed the £11.5m arrival of Celtic defender Virgil van Dijk, as reported by BBC Sport. The Netherlands U21 international becomes the Saints' eighth arrival of the summer and the third former Celtic star at St. Mary's, after Victor Wanyama and Fraser Forster. The 24-year-old, who has put pen-to-paper on a five-year deal with Ronald Koeman's side, has been linked with a move away from the Scottish Premier League champions for some time now.
