Arsenal failed with late attempt to sign Juventus striker Simone Zaza

Arsenal made a late attempt to prise Simone Zaza away from Juventus, claim reports in Italy. The Gunners were on the hunt to sign a striker all summer and had a bid knocked back by Juve on deadline day. The Old Lady, who only signed Zaza earlier this summer, were in no position to find a replacement for the 24-year-old at such a late stage and therefore rejected Arsenal's offer. However, according to Sky Italia, Juventus may have considered selling Zaza if Arsenal returned with a bid in excess of £22m. The Gunners made initial contact with Zaza's agent and then with Juventus, but decided against an increased bid once the Turin club had rejected their first offer.
