Mertesacker: We were a bit lucky at the end

Arsenal defender Per Mertesacker has admitted that the Gunners were a little lucky at the end after his side’s frantic win over Crystal Palace. We took an early lead through a Santi Cazorla penalty and Olivier Giroud doubled the advantage just before the break. Palace did respond with a late consolation courtesy of Glenn Murray in the fourth minute of stoppage time and the forward was also close to earning his side a drawn after his header struck the post. The German international revealed that his team were given a bit of a warning not to switch off, having come close to dropping points at the end.
