Former Manchester United and Arsenal striker Robin van Persie considering return to Holland

Former Manchester United and Arsenal forward Robin van Persie is on the verge of leaving Fenerbahce, according to reports in Turkey. The Dutchman has struggled to settle to life in Istanbul since moving there in the summer, while Fenerbahce president Aziz Yildirim is thought to be unimpressed by the striker's form this season. According to Takvim, Yildirim is understood to be keen on signing Brazil striker Fred from Fluminense as Van Persie's replacement. Fluminense are open to the idea of selling Fred for a fee of around £5m, meaning Van Persie would be free to leave the club.
