Per Mertesacker trusts this Arsenal player to step up during his long injury lay-off
The 32-year-old is unlikely to return to action until the New Year after undergoing surgery on a knee injury picked up during pre-season in July. Despite knowing of the German's long injury lay-off, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger named Mertesacker as his club captain following Mikel Arteta's retirement.
