Wayne Rooney has been snubbed for the first time in 12 years after being left off the nominee list
The Leicester striker has struggled so far this season after turning down a move to Arsenal and signing a new £100,000-a-week deal. Vardy, 29, has scored just twice as the Foxes look powerless in their bid to retain the Premier League title.
