Romero, Mikel and other players who performed better for country than club

Sergio Romero's career has been in a strange position since the summer of 2013, when he joined Monaco on loan from Sampdoria. He played only three times for the Ligue 1 club in 2013/14, and when he returned to Samp the following summer he managed only 10 appearances - despite being their first-choice keeper just a few years before. A move to Manchester United followed in the summer of 2015, and Romero has played just 25 games for the Red Devils since then as back-up to first-choice keeper David De Gea.
