Arsenal news: Gunners to leave it late for Jonny Evans January swoop, Man City keen too

Evans was the subject of strong interest from Manchester City in the summer, but a move failed to materialise. The Gunners meanwhile, are looking to make defensive acquisitions, especially with Per Mertesacker retiring at the end of the campaign. The Daily Telegraph say Arsenal will leave it late to try and wrap up a deal for Evans, who is out of contract in 18 months’ time. City, the report suggests, are also exploring a deal as Pep Guardiola seeks cover for John Stones, who is currently sidelined with a hamstring injury.
