Arsenal FC news: Manager Arsene Wenger backs safe standing at Premier League grounds

Arsene Wenger said he is in favour of safe standing, claiming it adds to the atmosphere at football matches. West Brom's plans to introduce it rejected by the government in April where the pilot scheme would have meant 3,600 seats in the Hawthorns’ Smethwick End being converted to 'rail seats', which can be locked in an upright position. Scottish Premiership side Celtic have hailed the success of their safe standing area at Parkhead after nearly two years of operation. As well as Scotland, safe standing has long been a feature of many grounds in the German Bundesliga, but sports minister Tracey Crouch said she was not prepared to change the government position, which outlawed standing...
