Xavier Amaechi scores in quarter-final win

Xavier Amaechi scored as England beat Norway 2-0 to reach the European Under-17 Championship semi-finals. Steve Cooper’s Young Lions were on the front foot from the first whistle and went into half-time 1-0 up, thanks to Bobby Duncan’s header.   Amaechi then hit the side netting and stung the Norwegian keeper’s palms with a fierce strike before he eventually found the net.   Fellow academy graduate Bukayo Saka drove towards the box and found Duncan, whose cutback was expertly curled into the bottom corner by Amaechi.   Vontae Daley-Campbell also started, while Folarin Balogun replaced Duncan for the final 16 minutes. Trae Coyle and Tyreece John-Jules were unused substitutes.  ...
