Arsene Wenger reveals he tried to sign Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi for Arsenal

Arsene Wenger might have had both Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi playing at Arsenal if the Frenchman had his own way with transfers, the outgoing manager has revealed. Wenger, whose 22-year managerial reign came to a close at the end of the season, said how he tried to sign two of the best players in history for the Gunners. Arsenal missed out on both counts, obviously. Ronaldo instead went to Manchester United before moving to Real Madrid, while Wenger was unable to prise a young Messi from Barcelona.
