Mesut Ozil has recently declared himself unavailable for selection for the German national team after claims Germany’s football association (DFB) were disrespectful and racist towards him and his heritage. While this has to be seen as a blow to Germany, especially after a disappointing World Cup campaign, it could be a blessing in disguise for the Gunners as they enter a new era under Unai Emery.
