World Cup: Miedema scores in quarter-final

We had a number of players in Women’s World Cup quarter-final action over the weekend. Scroll down to find out how they got on: Vivianne Miedema scored the crucial opening goal as the Netherlands reached their first-ever World Cup semi-final with a 2-0 win over Italy.   Our striker led the line, just in front of Danielle van de Donk, but was unable to get the better of Laura Giuliani during a goalless first half.   Netherlands continued to mount the pressure and after Van de Donk had struck the bar from 25 yards, Miedema powered Sherida Spitse’s delivery home for her third goal of the tournament.
