Spurs have no excuse not to select key man for north London derby - opinion

Jan Vertonghen is confident he is fit to play in this weekend’s north London derby against Arsenal, per The Daily Telegraph. What’s the word? The Belgium international has not played this season. Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino has instead partnered Davinson Sanchez with Toby Alderweireld for the first three games of the campaign, in which Spurs beat Aston Villa, drew with Manchester City and lost to Newcastle United. The 32-year-old was not even included in the squad for the game against Villa, while he was on the bench in the latter two encounters.
