Mikel Arteta hails Granit Xhaka’s importance in his plans for Arsenal rebuild

Mikel Arteta reckons Granit Xhaka has become the rock around which Arsenal's foundations for a brighter future can be built. Xhaka's rollercoaster season scaled new heights at Wembley on Saturday when he helped inspire his side to FA Cup glory with a 2-1 win over Chelsea. The Gunners bounced back from Christian Pulisic's early strike to come from behind with two goals from captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and claim a record 14th FA Cup title. Aubameyang lifted the trophy, albeit having dropped part of it first, instead of Xhaka because the Swiss midfielder was stripped of the skipper's armband back in November when Unai Emery was boss.
