Arsenal players 'deeply upset' with club after redundancy contradicts promise

Arsenal players have been left “deeply upset” with the club as the club’s redundancy announcements have contradicted earlier promises. The Gunners announced that 55 members of staff will lose their jobs, a result of the coronavirus pandemic. It comes as the club are trying to secure big transfers in Chelsea star Willian and Barcelona flop Philippe Coutinho. And the Mirror has reported that players have expressed their feelings of being “deeply upset” about the latest announcements. The club’s star players agreed to a 12.5 per-cent pay cut in May, being told it was to assure the safety of staff wages.
