Aouar explains why Arsenal were snubbed for transfer despite being No.1 target
Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar has explained why he is staying at the Ligue 1 club after a transfer to Arsenal failed to materialise. The 22-year-old was heavily linked with a summer switch to the Emirates as Mikel Arteta looked to bolster his midfield. The Gunners were also keen on Atletico Madrid's Thomas Partey but it seems neither midfielder will join up with the north Londoners this year. Aouar was one of two key players who was linked with a Lyon exit this summer, with Memphis Depay potentially joining Barcelona. But again it seems like neither deal will now happen.
