Sir Keir Starmer hits out at Gunnersaurus sack in plea to Premier League clubs

Sir Keir Starmer has called on pandemic-hit football clubs to spare their mascots the boot. The Labour leader made his plea as the cheerleaders became the latest victims of Covid-19 – with the supporters they entertain currently barred from matches. And last night just FOUR Premier League teams confirmed theirs were safe. Sir Keir hit out at his own team, Arsenal, for laying off Jerry Quy – who has been in the Gunnersaurus suit for 27 years – and blaming the move on the financial impact of the coronavirus.
