Arsenal, Man Utd, Spurs and Liverpool also leave European Super League project

The remaining four Premier League clubs have tonight confirmed their departure from the European Super League. The foursome have bowed to universal condemnation after widespread protests regarding the plans to join the breakaway league, hours after Chelsea and Manchester City also backed out. In a statement released this evening, Arsenal said: 'As a result of listening to you and the wider football community over recent days we are withdrawing from the proposed Super League. 'We made a mistake, and we apologise for it.' Liverpool said: 'Liverpool Football Club can confirm that our involvement in proposed plans to form a European Super League has been discontinued.
