Vinai Venkatesham phones round Premier League chiefs after ESL collapse

Arsenal chief executive Vinai Venkatesham has reportedly spent much of Wednesday grovelling to his furious Premier League counterparts. The Gunners were one of six English clubs to agree to become founding members of the seemingly failed European Super League. Along with Arsenal – Manchester United, Manchester City, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham also joined, before subsequently leaving less than 48 hours later. The proposed breakaway left the remaining 14 Premier League clubs furious, with the plans set to see the ‘big six’ receive huge additional financial injections.
