Shearer's warning to “embarrassing” Super League clubs despite making U-turn

Alan Shearer, the Premier League's record goal-scorer, has blasted the creators of The Super League. The Newcastle legend labelled the clubs as 'embarrassing' for their decision to backtrack on the new competition just 48 hours after its announcement. The twelve breakaway clubs announced their decision to form The Super League on Sunday evening: however, the English sides appeared to get cold feet, with all announcing the decision to withdraw from the competition by Wednesday morning.
