Fans of 'Big Six' clubs have seen right through the sham apologies from owners

The thing about apologies is that they have to come from the heart. They have to mean something and be laced with genuine contrition. Otherwise people see straight though them, like those Manchester United supporters did who stormed the club's training ground yesterday to protest at the poisonous ownership of the Glazers. Joel Glazer's open letter to fans the day before might as well have been written on toilet paper, because all it achieved was making those it was addressed to want to wipe their backsides with it. From his mansion in Palm Beach, Florida, he spoke of wanting to rebuild the 'trust' of the United supporters. What trust? He never had this privilege in the first place, so...
