Alan Miller dies aged 51 as tributes paid to ex-Arsenal star who made history

Former Arsenal,West Brom and Middlesbrough goalkeeper Alan Miller has died at the age of 51. Miller began his career with the Gunners in 1984, starting off as a schoolboy and winning the FA Youth Cup in 1988. He turned professional in the same year but found first-team opportunities at Highbury few and far between. The Epping-born stopper made his Arsenal debut in 1992, becoming the first ever Gunners goalkeeper to come on as a substitute. He was an unused sub in the squad which completed a League Cup and FA Cup double in 1993 and won the Cup Winners’ Cup in 1994.
