‘I’m silently wishing he retires’ - Arsenal fans slate Mikel Arteta
Arsenal fans were over the moon after their 6-0 victory over Lyon in the Emirates Cup but the mood turned a little sour during the first half of their clash with Wolfsburg. The Gunners looked a little below par in the opening period and one man in particular was singled out for his poor display. Mikel Arteta, 33, has spent four seasons in north London since a £10million move from Everton but found playing time hard to come by last year due to injuries. In the summer he landed a one-year contract extension but Arsenal fans weren’t too kind about his showing at the Emirates against Bundesliga side Wolfsburg.
