Tottenham turn attention to Bundesliga midfielder after missing out on Everton star

Tottenham have turned their attentions to Borussia Dortmund midfielder Sven Bender after failing to sign Everton's James McCarthy, reports the Daily Mirror. The north London outfit have been rebuffed by the Toffees in their efforts to bring the Irishman to White Hart Lane, so have been forced to look elsewhere, according to the Mirror. Bender was left on the substitutes' bench for BVB's Europa League encounter with Wolfsburg on Thursday, and as a result may be available for a transfer. The German was linked to local rivals Arsenal earlier in the summer [Metro], but no move materialised from the Gunners.
