BT Sport throw a haymaker at Sky with UIltra High Definition picture at ultra high prices

BT parked its tanks on Sky’s lawn with a £897 million three-year deal for European football. And now it has parked a big fancy TV on there as well. Sunday’s Community Shield saw BT’s first broadcast of its 4K Ultra High Definition TV on its UHD Sport Channel. The picture quality is excellent, with four times as many pixels as HD, and top-of-the-line Sony cameras shoot the action with a wider field. BT pundit Rio Ferdinand was especially keen on the service’s proposed “Owl Cam”, which will take pictures from two 4K cameras, splice the pictures together and then provide a view of the entire pitch. “That will be great for a manager or an...
