Arsenal's Jack Wilshere 'hopeful' over World Cup spot with England

Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere has said that he still holds out hope of earning a place in England's World Cup squad. In March, Wilshere was rewarded for his form with the Gunners with a place in Gareth Southgate's squad for the matches with the Netherlands and Italy, but a minor knock led to the player withdrawing from both fixtures. Wilshere has not represented his country since Euro 2016, but the playmaker has acknowledged that he is still keen to secure his place on the plane to Russia.
